Serve
Ways to help the missionaries and each other in Seaview Ward.
Feed the missionaries
Our missionaries give every hour of their day to others. A warm dinner at your table is one of the simplest ways to look after them, and to let them get to know your family.
- Monday, February 1
- Tuesday, February 2
- Wednesday, February 3
- Thursday, February 4
- Friday, February 5
You don't need a big meal or a tidy house. A simple dinner, at the time the missionaries need it, is a gift. They'll leave after about an hour so they can get back to the people they teach.
If you like, ask them to share a short message with your family. A few minutes of a lesson at your table invites the Spirit into your home, and your children see what missionary work looks like up close.
Promised blessings
- The Savior counted feeding a stranger as feeding Him.
- Families who open their homes to the missionaries often find their own faith renewed, and children grow up wanting to serve.
- The missionaries leave stronger, and you become part of the work of bringing people to Jesus Christ.
Go with the missionaries
When someone is learning about the gospel, a friend from the ward makes all the difference. Going along on a visit means that person will see a familiar face when they come to church.
No dates are posted right now. Check back soon, or ask the ward mission leader on Sunday.
You don't need to teach. Come as yourself, share how the gospel has helped you, and listen. The missionaries lead the lesson.
Sign up for a time window. The ward mission leader confirms where to meet. We never post the name of the person being taught.
Promised blessings
- The Lord promised joy to those who help even one person come to Him.
- People who have a friend at church are far more likely to keep coming, to be baptized and to stay.
- Your own testimony grows as you hear yourself share it.
Serve with the military branch
The military branch in our stake serves young Marines and sailors far from home. Wards help with meals, rides and helping hands, and anyone who comes is welcome to stay for the branch's meetings.
- Sunday dinner after sacrament meeting
- Rides to the temple
What to expect at a military branch service
Getting on base
You'll need a photo ID, and often a visitor pass arranged ahead of time. The branch lists what to bring and which gate to use on each date. Allow extra time at the gate.
Who you'll meet
Mostly young service members, many away from home for the first time, and a few families. They're glad to see people from the wards.
Meetings
Services are simple and reverent, much like any branch. You're welcome to stay for sacrament meeting.
Children
Families and children are welcome where base rules allow. The branch says so on each date.
Photos
Don't take photos on base unless the branch says it's allowed, and never of service members without asking.
